Unlicensed Long Island Doctor Missed Prostate Cancer Diagnosis: Lawsuit Ensued

Prostate cancer has advanced in a man due to a missed diagnosis by an unlicensed Long Island doctor. A medical malpractice lawsuit has been filed on 2 accounts.

March 9, 2012 – Long Island, N.Y. - CBS NY reports that a missed prostate cancer diagnosis may be at the hands of an unlicensed Long Island doctor that has resulted in a lawsuit. Know that filing a medical malpractice claim is a serious occurrence that should be supported by an attorney. A doctor, John Mitchner, out of Nassau University Medical Center is being sued for illegally practicing medicine and failing to diagnose a man with prostate cancer. The only license he holds is as a physician’s assistant. Yet for several decades he has been practicing medicine.  The claimant, Nevely Plummer, had been under Mitchner’s care since 2003. He received ongoing blood tests to determine if he has prostate cancer but has since learned that this is not the procedure used to detect cancer. He was not offered the opportunity for additional types of testing.  After seeing a new doctor, he discovered that he had been stricken with prostate cancer for at least a decade. It has now progressed to the point where the cancer is in his bones.  When you have been the victim of medical malpractice, serious consequences can develop, such has severe medical conditions, diseases, and possibly death. A claim is something you may want to pursue but you should first speak with legal counsel.
